Formica Hospitality Design 2005
Based on the premise that Formica’s products serve as designers’ fundamental building blocks, KLI designed a fabric and aluminum cubic sculpture. Three custom fabricated aluminum grids hung overhead and parallel to one another. Custom printed fabric banners were carefully designed to weave in and out of the frames forming multiple cubes. Visible across the show floor, the sheer, somewhat glossy fabric, shimmered and glowed thanks to a carefully engineered lighting plan. The counters, each at a different height, featured Formica product, application photography and instructive text. Bar and desk seating were included to give exhibit goers a comfortable place to rest and view Formica’s complete offering.
