Formica International Builders Show 2006
At the 2006 International Builders Show in Orlando, Florida, Formica wanted
to appeal to builders active in the booming homebuilding business. KLI
created a contemporary landscape where natural and manmade worlds could
coexist in unexpected and inviting ways. Utilizing earth tones that ranged
the seasons, carpet squares and vertical fabric banners towered overhead
creating simplified, colorful foliage. Together, they shared the exhibit
space with a streamlined, full kitchen and three other cabinet/counter
vignettes. The effect was both comfortable and inviting. The center of the
space – a four foot diameter cylinder covered in Formica product – represented the
grand old tree coveted by neighborhoods across the United States. Overstuffed
bean bag chairs lured weary passersby to rest their feet and let their minds
be entertained by a three minute video designed especially for the show. Two
conference rooms finished off the space providing semi-private spaces for
meetings and employee gatherings.
