SuperPark Wayfinding System
In order to compete with numerous other airport parking structures, Lambert International Airport in St. Louis needed to stand out not only visually, but in name. “SuperPark”, developed by the Airport, connotes boldness and strength reminiscent of comic book superheros. Embracing this notion, the entry landmark consists of three sculptural, geometric towers of varying heights positioned in a triangular arrangement. These monolithic structures, 42’, 38’ and 32’, seem to defy gravity and the expected. The aluminum towers
are externally painted with a high gloss automotive paint to withstand the elements. Internally illuminated letters occur on both sides of the towers, while “glow panels” illuminate within the diamond shapes. These towers create an identifying landmark easily visible from the interstate and surrounding areas.
Automobiles enter the lot through an askew entry portal repeating the same bright colors as the entry landmark towers. The vibrant colors stand out against the landscape. Lining the main entrance road are dimensional parallelograms with information about parking amenities. The shapes visually overlap and create ever changing views for the driver.
Area identifiers orient the visitor through color and bold letters.
The exit directional sign stands 21’ and is clearly visible throughout the entire lot. The arrow consists of a high output fluorescent internally illuminated arrow shaped with black vinyl cut letters.
