Formica Hospitality Design 2007
Formica Corporation launched a new line of laminates and metals that were viewed in large format. We designed this portable Showroom to accommodate the maximum number of new items at the largest size possible. Our solution was to create a showcase of product samples that ranged in scale from 8 foot high product panels to the size of a hand-held chip-chain swatch all displayed within a clean, almost retail-like environment.
White custom-built aluminum frames were the containers for the two walls of large-scale product panels, or what as we like to name them; “flippers.” The flippers displayed closer to true-to-life examples of the Formica Brand products as well as product application photos. The convention of the white aluminum frames was echoed in the support legs of the booth’s one large table which we placed in the center of the space. The table acted as the booth’s hub, with samples both mounted and attached by a chip chain to the table top and displayed in a mid-range size along the table’s four sides. The table also allowed space for a laptop and provided a built-in brochure holder. White Chilewich Plynyl covered the floor of the space, and white Marcell Wanders floor lamps were suspended upside down to create drama above the center table. The only color in the space existed in the products themselves and the large red-orange Formica logo banner that wrapped the perimeter of the booth overhead.
